5 tips for using Vine for business

Vine was launched by Twitter in 2013 as an easy to use and very popular app to capture and share 6 seconds looping videos.

Vines are basically the same as tweets, but in video format and opens new opportunities for businesses on Twitter. It’s great for storytelling and engaging your audience.

Here are some of our favourite examples of how you can use it to grow your online business:

  1. Engage your audience
Making a Vine is fun. Simply ask your followers to create their own Vines about a specific topic related to your business. You can even turn it into a contest by offering a fabulous prize. Here’s one by American Airlines: http://vine.co/v/bXHOnu3bEZZ

  2. Show off your products Vine is an amazing tool for product promotion as shown here by BMW: https://vine.co/v/bPwXhHh9TlD. Make sure you also link to your landing page, so if anyone is interested in your product they can easily find out more about it. Even better is to have one of your fans do it for you. So listen and retweet!
  3. How to… People always want to learn something new and Vine is a fast and easy way to do it. Make a quick guide on how to use one of your products. Promote, entertain and educate at the same time! Bacardi UK has nailed this one: https://vine.co/v/bnqj5qmnIwQ

  4. Take people inside your office There’s nothing like seeing the people behind a business, so why not take your audience behind the scenes, and show them how you work? Remember that laughs get lots of shares, retweets and mentions, but you don’t have to wait for something funny to happen, you can also create it yourself, shown brilliantly by this robot guided tour of the Wired offices: vine.co/v/b67VzXeH7wX

  5. Attract customers to an event Whenever you’ve got an event coming up, use a Vine to let your followers know that they can come and meet you. A simple way is showing your event space as done here by Unruly Media at the Festival of Media: https://vine.co/v/bxprXDzjXQW

Social media is still growing, and it’s a great way to connect with and engage your online audience.
