Team Catalyst take on the Great Birmingham Run, again!

Team Catalyst take on the Great Birmingham Run

If one half marathon wasn’t enough for the team at Catalyst, on Sunday 16th October, the team were out for the second consecutive year to take part in the Great Birmingham Run!

The team got out their lycra, pinned on their numbers and off they went around the notorious 13.1 mile course. Taking part this year were returning runners Joe Birkedale and Mireille Wathes who were joined by three newbies; Sudhir Kumar, Janine Lesueur and Bevin Lesueur, who all completed the course between 2 and 2.45 hours – a great achievement for all.

Catalyst Run for MDMA

You may wonder why the team took part in the great Birmingham Run again this year – remember, we’re marketers, not runners. Some took part to try and beat their time from the previous year, some just wanted to give it a go, but the one interlinking reason was to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) – a charity close to many at Catalyst, especially our MD, Joe Birkedale. In February, sadly, Joe’s mother-in-law passed away, a courageous woman who had been living with MND – a disease that currently has no cure.

The fight that we saw Joy go through inspired the office to fundraise for such an amazing cause. As well as offering pro-bono hours to the charity to support their marketing activities, we wanted to go one step further, get away from our desks and do something that truly makes a difference.

There were a few limps in the office the following day, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was the sheer pride and results achieved not only for the individuals who took part, but also for the charity we are supporting.

The race may now have ended but the donations haven’t. We’d like to thank everyone who has donated so far. If you’d like to find out more about why the team got on their running shoes again and would like to donate, simply click on the link below.
